Email - Why Not Use It?

Home Please James

OK, so this is the almost obligatory links page but who knows, you may find something here that you haven't seen before ...

Web Pages

BME, the body modification ezine. One of, if not the, first web sites dealing with body art and still the best (and that's not just because Shannon's hosting these web pages). Often copied but never bettered.

The Almost Complete Body Piercing Links List, if this site hasn't got the bodmod link you're looking for then it probably doesn't exist.

The Rabbit Hole, the "official" home of the rec.arts.bodyart newsgroup. Links, info, FAQs and a whole lot more.

Queen Spako's Slug Fest, the "official" home of the rec.arts.bodyart newsgroup. Hold on, two "official" home pages? I couldn't work this out either. I'll leave it to you to make up your mind.

PlanetAll - BodyArt, the home of PlanetAll's BodyArt discussion group. I've only just found this so I've no idea what it's like.

Newsgroups

rec.arts.bodyart, fire up your newsreader, delurk, post, enjoy.

alt.binaries.pictures.art.bodyart, if you have the patience to wade through all the spam you can quite often find some decent binary postings, or not.

Books

Most of the books listed in this section are available from the BME/shop, or from Amazon.com. If you live in the UK, you can also try Compendium Bookshop in Camden (nearest Tube: Camden Town on the Northern Line).

Modern Primitives

V. Vale & Andrea Juno (ed), RE/SEARCH Publications, 20 Romolo #B, San Francisco, CA 94133, U.S.A.

An in depth series of interviews and articles of all facets of body modification. Loads of photos, all in black and white though.

The Customized Body

Housk Randal & Ted Polhemus, Serpent's Tail, 4 Blackstock Mews, London, N4, United Kingdom.

The ideal coffee table book, combining Housk's superb photos and Ted Polhemus' anthropological commentary. Covers all aspects of body modification and then some.

The Eye Of The Needle & Spheres of Adornment

Pauline Clarke, Piercing World, 153 Tomkinson Road, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, CV10 8DP, United Kingdom.

The Eye Of The Needle is effectively "the best of" Piercing World magazine with several new sections written about the author's own experiences. Lots of photos of PAUK members and information on most of the types of piercings. Spheres of Adornment is a form of sequel which widens the scope of "The Eye" to include hair, clothing and tattoos amongst others.

Magazines

Body Art

Dealing with almost every form of bodmod known, this British magazine is what started me out on the road to the mods chronicled on these pages. For some unknown reason, neither the magazine nor the publisher have an on-line presence (if you know otherwise, then please let me know), but this magazine has a good number of distributors in the UK and worldwide. You can contact Body Art at:

Publications Ltd, P.O. Box 32, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, NR29 5RD, United Kingdom.

Piercing World

The member's magazine of the Piercing Association UK, or PAUK, is very much by members for members although it is available for retail sale from some outlets. Full of black and white and colour photos, this magazine is an excellent source of experiences and information. Alas, like Body Art, I've never been able to track them down online. The founder and editor, Pauline Clarke, is also the author (or should that be authoress?) of The Eye Of The Needle and Spheres Of Adornment.
