I went on another business trip to DC on October 8, 1998. It's now a tradition that I get pierced, so Judy made an appointment for us at Creation. I've thought of getting a conch pierce for a while and this seemed to be the perfect opportunity. Judy and I pre-ordered jewelry and I decided that this pierced should be healed with a barball because of the placement.
The pierce itself was very pleasant. It didn't hurt nearly as much as I thought it would and Jason was fast. About half an hour after the pierce, the blood clot came loose and I had blood dripping down my ear. We were on our way back to the subway so we grabbed some napkins from a restuarant to keep me from getting blood on my clothes.
Healing is going a bit slow. It's still tender after over a month, but it's not a problem unless I bump it.
July 29, 1999 Update
I removed this jewelry today. I am getting married in 10 days and I didn't want this jewelry in then, and also I decided I didn't like it anymore. The hole looks like it will stay open for a while, so I can probably change my mind if I so choose.
