Goodbye Hood Pierce

I took my vertical hood pierce jewelry out on April 14, 1998. I had had the pierce for almost 5 months. Lately, I had been bicycling more and more and the pierce was frequently tender. My daily commute of 20 minutes did not seem to aggravate it, nor did 2-3 hour rides. But rides longer than 3 hours became very painful. This made sex unpleasant, not the reason I had it pierced. For the last month or so, the idea that I should just take it out kept floating around in my head. Even though the pierce was causing me pain, the decision to take it out was not easy. This was my first private, exciting and daring pierce. I had been so excited to get it done, and for a while it was very fun to have. But finally, I knew it had to come out.

Taking the barbell out was slightly difficult. The balls had never come loose before, proving that the jewelry was very tight. There was a bump on the underside of my hood at the exit hole, which probably was the proof that the pierce was irritated. I'm hoping that it isn't a keloid. The pierce does not appear to be infected since there hasn't been any real pain or discharge, so I don't think there is any problem in taking the jewelry out.

I will miss this pierce. It was my private secret that I could choose with whom I would share it. I liked knowing that very few people knew about it, and those who didn't would never guess I was pierced there.
