V6 RX7

Sorry, the rear quarter-panel photo above is the only picture I have of this cursed car.

We started with a red trashed 1988 (I think) RX7. Since it had no functioning engine, we dropped in an Oldsmobile V6. The swap was surprisingly easy, and we even got the gauges mostly working.

However, the RX7's gearing was never designed for a low RPM American V6, and, at about 100 MPH on a packed four-lane highway I blew a piston out the side of the engine. Oil and gas blowing out of the bottom of the engine hit the exhaust ignited, turning me into a fireball.

Doing my best Ghostrider impression I hurled across the traffic to a place to stop and jumped out of the car. A trucker stopped and help put it out... Too bad... It was insured, so I should have just let the damn thing burn.

Two engine swaps later, we never got it running quite right, and eventually ditched it.
