                        BUILDING YOUR OWN DUNGEON

So...you want to build a Dungeon????

Dungeons or playrooms are wonderful places where the Dom and sub can escape.
For those who have basements, they provide the perfect setting for building
your own chamber.  Basements tend to be more sound proof than other rooms
in the house (which is important if you reside with others).

The fabulous thing about creating your play space is that you can spend as
little or as much money as you wish.  So much can be constructed from so
little.  If the sky is the limit, than you are likely to find individuals
within the S&M community that are experienced in making furniture for such
rooms.  However, there is no mistaking their purpose, and if that is a
concern for you, you might want to take a less flashy approach.  For example,
a popular dungeon item is the rack.  Now, this really isn't anything more
than a glorified table.  Make sure that it is at a height the Dom will find
comfortable to work at, and padding the table will make the experience for
the sub a bit more comfortable.  Eye hooks can be added around the edge at
various points where one may wish to tie hands or ankles to.

There are other items that you may have around the house, or can find at
the second hand store that can be modified to make excellent additions to
your room.  Here are some items that you may wish to investigate:

  Spanking Horse
  ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
  A very common piece of furniture which is essentially a modified saw horse.
  Pieces are added around the base to increase the stability of the legs,
  the top is padded and eye hooks added.  You may wish attach to the top
  crossbean another piece of wood to widen the are which the sub lays on.
  A 2 X 6 will accomplish this very nicely.

  Whipping Posts
  ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
  Whipping posts are very basic and generally consist of two pieces of wood
  standing upright with a piece across the bottom for stability.  They can
  be anchored into a wall (which is a good idea), and eye hooks added at the
  various levels you wish to have your sub bound to.  With arms spread above
  the head this allows the standing sub is easily accessible.  Free standing
  whipping posts will allow you complete access to the submissive.

  Spanking Block
  ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
  These are very comfortable and relatively easy to make.  They are shaped
  like a half circle flattened out a bit.  Perhaps, like one would use
  an ottoman, the sub is positioned over the block which supports the weight
  of the spankee, keeps them in a great position for sexual activity as
  well as .... spanking!

  The Cross
  ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
  Commonly referred to as "St. Andrew's Cross", this is basically an "X"
  shaped crucifiction device.  There are also the traditional styles of
  crosses in the upright position.  Attach eyebolts in the appropriate places
  and your sub to the cross and you are ready to go.

  Stocks
  ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
  Most everyone is familiar with this little gem, they likely need little
  explanation.  Stocks can be made with simple pieces of wood.  Hollywood
  has produced numerous movies where you can see stocks utilized.  One
  great idea of the puritans.

  Katherine Wheel
  ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
  This piece can be made in a couple of different ways.  Either using a
  circular piece of wood (although it would need to be a large one), you
  need to mount the center on the wall so that you are able to spin it.
  Secure eyebolts so that you may attach the sub, spread eagle.  You will
  need a leather belt in the center to secure your subs waist to the centre.
  Another way is to take several pieces of wood (like spokes in a wheel and
  do virtually the same thing.

These are just a few of the items that you might wish to add to your dungeon.
There are several others, and numerous ideas floating around in the imagin-
ations of both Dom and sub.
