After Care
-
Proper care of a new tattoo over the first few weeks will
make the difference between a good tattoo and a great one.
- The healing procedures
for a new tattoo are fairly simple, yet very important and should
be carefully adhered to.
-
- (1) Leave bandage on for
at least 4 hours. (But not more than 12.)
(2) Remove bandage and GENTLY
wash tattoo with Anti-Bacterial SoftSoap. This is
a brand name, not a description. Do not use Dial.
(3) Do not apply any ointment
at this time. Leave exposed to air overnight. (Only this first
night!)
(4) Each morning wash as
above. Massage lather with fingertips, rinse, and gently blot
dry with a clean paper towel. ( Exposure to a lot of sweat and/or
dirt will require more frequent washing.)
(5) Apply a thin layer
of A&D Ointment or Neosporin, and
blot off excess with a clean paper towel.
(6) Check tattoo every
hour or so to insure tattoo has not dried out. When you feel
tattoo is dry, repeat ointment application as above. Continue
this care for about two weeks or until tattoo is completely
healed. After the first two weeks, frequent application of a
lotion is recommended. Be sure to use a lotion without lanolins,
perfumes, and the like. I use LUBRIDERM Sensitive Skin, Or KERI
lotion.

Things to Remember
-
- * Over applying ointment & too frequent
of washing, as well as not enough, will do more damage than
good. Follow these instructions precisely.
* In about 4-6 days,
you will notice bits of color and dead skin begin to peel. Do
not be alarmed. This is supposed to happen. However- do not
try to HELP tattoo peel by picking or rubbing excessively. This
will damage your tattoo.
* Be sure to use OINTMENT
not creme.
* Once bandage is initially
removed NEVER rebandage!
* Exposure to sun will
fade your tattoo- even after it is healed. If you tan, or will
be in the sun for long periods of time, be sure to use a heavy
sunblock or cover tattoo. (Only AFTER tattoo is completely healed!)
* Do not soak your tattoo
while healing. This means bathtubs, hot tubs, swimming pools,
lakes, long showers etc. This is important!
* Within the first 3
months, touch ups can be performed at a $10 charge, providing
tattoo has been properly cared for.
* Ignore any and all
healing advice from anyone else.
* If you have any questions
or concerns regarding aftercare information... CALL! Call as
often as necessary for you to feel comfortable with the healing
of your new tattoo. Help is always free.
* Thank you for allowing
us to give you your tattoo. Without you we could not survive.
We REALLY appreciate your business.
