Sadie's Modifications
My name's Sadie and I've been a librarian about 14 years, modified only two. I began with a hole that would pose no real threat to my professional image: a 14 gauge captive bead ring in my left nipple, subsequently upgaged to 12 ga. I had a piercing plan, actually, designed to mark a rite of passage, as are many body modifications. My plan was to have three rings, tongue, nipple and genital. This plan was dashed to the dirt with the advent of hole number two. More below.
First, some dangerously rant-like exposition. 'Fraid I can't give you the name and place of my employ -- my school's community is very conservative. I live in a metropolitan area several miles away. I have a master's degree and work with grades 9-12 in a high school.
I have had kids tell me, to my face, "I heard you were a witch." Yeah, I knew the rumors were going around. I was playing a witch in a local theatrical production of _Bell, Book, and Candle_ at the time. Though I respect many personal spiritual choices, I am not involved with Wicca (another student speculation) or any other nature religions.
I have had kids ask me, to my face, "Are you a lesbian?" I have had kids drive by and anonymously yell "Dyke!" at me. Did I mention that this community is conservative? Though I respect many personal sexual orientations, I am a heterosexual female.
| So it was in this environment I decided to have my tongue pierced. Not in-your-face visible, but very tongue forward. as you can see from the photo. The three circle plan was discouraged for dental reasons by my piercer, Jori Zan. The present condition of my tongue is 10 ga. barbell with some big-ass balls. | ![]() |
Following this I did some research and decided that my genital configuration was not conducive to piercing. So for that reason, (oh yeah, and meeting a new lover and not really wanting to take a healing break ;-)) I decided to pierce the right nipple. Very fresh, actually, March 1999.
Reactions to the tongue stud range from enthusiasm (kids), none (administration), curiosity (friendly staff), and a sort of self-conscious poking in and out of their own tongues (humorless staff.)
I have no tattoos. But like tattooing, piercing is addictive. I can see upgaging all three in the near future."
