Anne's Modifications
My name is Anne Pemberton and I will be finishing my Master's in Information Science from the University of Tennessee in May 2000. I hope to work for an academic library somewhere in the South upon graduation.
I was destined to become a librarian as I am a third generation info professional. Although generation two strongly objects to my "modifications," they were done before I entered into grad school and I can't promise that there won't be more along the way. I began my "modifications" about 4 years ago.
I got my first tattoo about four years ago in Knoxville, Tennessee. It is the last name of a well-known German philosopher, Nietzsche (check out some good quotes at http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Delphi/4148/friedrich.html). It is on my back (in the middle, towards the right).

My second tat is a colorful Jerusalem Cross (or the Cross of the Crusades) (http://cc.cumber.edu/cross/crjer.htm). I also got my belly button pierced on that same visit (also in Knoxville). |

My third tattoo is definitely my favorite (also in Knoxville) and it is an arm band on my right arm. It is a wave going around my arm. I love it! My boyfriend (also a modified library sci student) has a similar band around his lower leg which is awesome!!! | ![]() |
My fourth tattoo is an ARMADILLO!!!! Check out: http://members.xoom.com/cyberdillo/boa_members.html. I got this one in El Paso, Texas as my friends and I were driving from Nashville, Tennessee to Phoenix, Arizona. We fell in love with the armadillo and my friend Heather and I had to have some matching tats to remember that trip.
So there is the story of my modifications! I love this site and hope that there are more librarians and info professionals out there who feel they don't have to fit the stereotype of the bun-headed, nag lurking in the library!
