I just finished the most amazing suspension AND I just had to tell everyone about it. It was a inverted (upside down) suspension from 2 - 6 gauge hooks in my knees. Here's the details. I had to have some help holding the skin BUT I did the piercing, hook insertion, rigging and lifting by myself. I'm not sure if I would recommend pushing a 6 gauge needle through the skin unless your REAL comfortable with piercing yourself. It wasn't the pain that got me, it was the nausea from watching something that big go through my own flesh. To be quite honest, I almost backed out after the first hook. My stomach was doing summersaults. BUT after a few deep breaths and a glass of water I was good to go on the next. Unfortunately I was a bit gun shy and made the piercing a bit shallow. Well, I wasn't going to pierce it again, so I made the call of hanging anyway. It was VERY painful BUT surprisingly easy to lift my body. Once I was up, I passed the ropes to Steve and Thomas and fell free. I'm still not sure what was more annoying, the pain in my knees or the blood rushing to my head. After about five minutes the pain was gone and my head started to swim. It was.....wonderful. Sorry BUT I can't think of any way to describe it. After about 20 minutes I was being told to "wrap it up." (I was doing it for a photo shoot) Here's where everything went wrong. I decided to lift myself up, grab the bar and get Oliver to unhook my right knee, the shallow one. This wasn't the first time I hung by one hook so I figure it would be alright. WRONG! I feel free again and felt my skin tearing. I managed to hang for a minute or two BUT I knew my skin was separating. Let's just say I came down in the knick of time. The gash in my left knee took 6 stitches to close.

Wait, I'm skipping the good part. The rush that came next was like nothing I ever felt. The only way to describe it is like being high on ecstasy. The endorphin rush combined with physical shock of being turned back up so quickly sent me into a spin. If my knee hadn't been so torn I would have laid with my head in Steve's lap for hours. Shit, when I've got head more together, I'll write more of the experience.
