For some time The Lizardman Sideshow Spectacular was touted as a one man show. But audience memebers and devotees of this site soon noticed a second face onstage and playing a very active role. That man was and is Scott Durland, now known to the world as The Amazing Dr. Grift. I first met Scott in 1996 at a bar in Albany, NY. We had bothed recently joined the same rugby team. For the next two years we would share apartments, work together at the same bar we met at, and become good friends. When I needed help at gigs, it was only natural that I asked Scott to help out - this has since become a more involved position than I think was ever anticipated by either of us. Today, Scott is an indispensable element of The Lizardman stage show and an irreplaceable asset, as well as being one of the best friends I have in the world. Scott plays a great many roles. He helps move and maintain equipment, drive the car, setup and breakdown the stage, sell merchandise, arrange bookings, and much more. During the show he not only serves as my personal safety and security crew but also throws darts at my back, swings a sledgehammer at my crotch, works the gavage pump, and more. In 2004 he expanded his role in the show by becoming Dr. Grift and lifting heavy objects with hooks placed inside his eyelids. Without Scott, The Lizardman and Lizardman Shows simply would not exist as they do today. If you want to talk to Scott, you can email him at: smdurland@hotmail.com Here are some shots of Scott in action (more images can be found throughout this site, particualrly in the archives): |
